For at least one night select boys and girls from Koinonia Homes for Teens lived like Kings (and Queens). Due to the generosity of DeMarcus Cousins and his Boogie’s Bunch Kings for the Community, 12 teens were able to watch the Sacramento Kings defeat the Indiana Pacers 92-88.
The kids arrived early to the game and received their tickets along with King’s shirts in order to cheer the team on in style. They were instructed before the tip-off to get loud, a directive they were all too happy to follow.
Down most of the game, the Kings needed a huge comeback in the 4th quarter to pull out the victory. “That was a ton of fun!” exclaimed one teen. All another could say was, “Amazing!”
This is certainly an example of how the caring hearts of those who donate leave an impact on the kids we serve. The kids received some royal treatment, and as a result are left with priceless memories that rival any fairytale.
In the end the teens and their staff were left with some raspy voices, and even made a new friend in a Pacer fan, who was gracious in defeat. Most importantly they were given another example of the joy of living a clean and sober life!
